An experienced mix of Sydney Premiership, Sydney Suburban and NSW Country players have been named in NSW Rugby's inaugural Under 85 Kilogram team to take part in the first ever international "80-80" tournament in Thailand.

Included in the team is Warringah Shute Shield winners Vinnie Byrne, Andrew Wiles and Craig Thomas, as well as Country Cockatoos Josh Darby and Ross Duncan.

Joining them is a number of players involved in NSW Suburban's successful 2005 representative campaign.

The squad came together for the first time at the weekend, with Coach John Morrison put his team through its paces in a searching two hour session at Moore Park.

The 23 man squad will depart Sydney on Thursday, arriving in Phuket in time for the official weigh-in before the competition kicks off on Saturday.

The top two teams after the round robin stage will face off in the final on Sunday, 14 August, with ARU and former NSWRU Chairman Dilip Kumar and former Waratahs coach Bob Dwyer there watching as special guests of the Thai Rugby Union.
